How the Indian society influences you and makes you a dumb-ass
Influence is the most dangerous thing that happens to individuals in Indian society. As the majority is always like a sheep herd, the minority of individual thinkers always find themselves isolated and lonely and think they have some kind of fault which is not allowing them to mix with the mainstream.
It’s very late they realize that not being able to mix with the mainstream is not a fault but a wonderful uniqueness which can change the mainstream’s orientation. For example, a student going to his college is waiting at the bus stop. A bus has come with filled crowd and passengers hanging by the doors. There are two possible mind states that could happen
- Am a middle-class father’s son. To lead the life, I should bare these difficulties, learn to surf through hardships, only then I will become a good son. If I go by auto or an AC bus, I will be a bad son. So whatever may happen, I will go by this crowded bus and become a good son by saving money (in this context)
- What a fucking crowd is this? What are all these people doing on one bus? Are these footpath hangers planning for a smooth suicide under the bus wheels? Why is this country this populated when we don’t have matching resources? Maybe everyone has put producing children as an easy job.
Why should everyone come out on to the roads at the same time? Why should each organization have similar timings giving traffic jams, crowded buses, and choking air to passengers?
Let all the crowded buses go away and I will go when the crowd drops. The college has not provided me with any transport even when it’s kilometres far away from the city, why should I care if I am late. In this digital world, why am I even supposed to travel to a particular place to learn something? Why are they not uploading the recorded classes on college server for students to visit later if they either missed or want to revise?
When the society – foolish, conventional, and thoughtless has been doing these many countless mistakes why should I feel bad about my out of the box thinking? Let me go late and if someone points me out..let me answer and see who understands it.
So who tries to mix with the crowd becomes the crowd because he never gets the thought of questioning it. Who won’t or can’t mix with the crowd makes an impactful change. And that’s called individual character. The only point is whenever someone stops questioning, he/she becomes just one more person without any identity difference.
It’s a long topic and I will split it into parts. In the context of ‘Influence of Society,’ there are few key elements to be mentioned.
- If hundreds of people are doing a thing the same way, it means there 99 other ways ignored. So you have a wider scope to research and do it the most interesting and impactful way.
- If you have an OCD for society’s approval to do everything you can never experience life beyond your home, street, office, and family.
- If everybody is liking you and appreciating you, then either there is something wrong with you or you are not doing anything remarkable that is ground-breaking.
- If you became a rebel and anti-social and if you then fall into the influence of one such a minority group, still you are not an individual because one or the other thought process is enslaving you.
You will lead a fulfilling life only when you live according to your original innate character- not according to a conventional majority or an anti-social minority. Any influence will only pollute your beautiful and celebrated originality.
