Human beings look forward to everything except Death
We prepare for individual events of life, why no discussion of final one?
From the moment a child is born, the parents, teachers, and society prepare the child for consecutive events, like going to school, getting graduated, finding a job, and the list goes on including the smaller things.
There’s a catchy line in a Telugu movie which goes by ‘What’s next?’. If in each stage, the society is curious to nurture and prepare human beings for next things, why the final and inevitable thing i.e death not asked? As someone asks about what next after graduation, how are you going to look for job, the question ‘what’s your preparation for death?’ should be discussed.
Why does the society want to hush the topic? Is it any wise to forcefully push it under the carpet. The major belief is that if someone talks about death at home, it’s blessed by the devils and is invited but it’s not true. I like the line from Sadhguru’s book about death which summarizes ‘Life needs your constant support but death doesn’t. Whether you support it or not, it can do its job.’
If there’s no preparation for death, it eventually equals to no preparation for life. Sub-consciously most of the people think that they’re going to live forever. If the news of death arrives, it is perceived as a thing that happens to others who are unfortunate but not them. The truth is that anyone can die at anytime. For such a powerful event, if there’s no preparation and guidance for it, that society lives in constant fear and ignorance. It might not be visible but with little more subtle observation, it can be sensed.
Unless humans are educated about Death, there won’t be much depth in their experience of Life
