On food supplements By R.Krishnamurthy
In my last article, I discussed the importance of vegetable fibre in our diet.
I relate here mostly my experiments with diet. I am a common man who is out to dispel many myths about diet.
In this article, I will talk about two recent experiments
A young man is staying in a hostel. He has lost weight and feels fatigued. He visits a doctor. The doctor gets a CBP done. His RBC count is drastically low. The doctor advises him to eat meat or egg. The young man is a vegetarian. He says he can not follow her advice. The doctor says she is helpless.
He contacted me. I told him to try green peas. My idea is that green peas are rich in proteins and they can serve the purpose like meat. He followed my idea and his health has steadily improved.
The other thing is about how to neutralise the side effects of medicines
Recently a relative of me went to doctor for thyroid treatment. She has been using thyroid tablets for a few months. As usual, the doctor got a test done for thyroid and the report showed a good improvement. The doctor asked if she was facing any complaints with excretion. She said no. It was a surprise to the doctor.
But she was under my supervision regarding diet. She was taking fibre rich cluster beans regularly. This kept her bowl movement in good condition. So the tablets side effects stood neutralised. Its efficacy worked to its expected potential.
So in medical treatment, we should ask the doctor about the side effects of medicines they prescribe and food supplements that neutralise the side effects.
