Why you must watch the movie ‘Power Star’ made by Ram Gopal Varma
There is no rule that a biopic should be made after a person’s death
All the buzz and hype about Power Star movie made by maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma doesn’t need an introduction. With his regular style of aggressive promotion, the director already created an amazing buzz added with media’s involvement, and the recent attack on his office fueled it to the peak.
Keeping all the known aside, let’s dive into the unexplored angle of the issue. I’m summarizing the analysis in the following excerpts. I’m only presenting in layman terms, a serious and data-backed analysis might come later.
1. Indian Democracy assures every citizen with Freedom of Speech and constitution protects it
This is mentioned in school level Social Studies and almost every kid who passes out of school will know this. Yet its application in society seems sub-standard where everyone is offended by any statement or action someone else does although it falls under the law. Capitalist countries like America have their media houses and independent entertainers mocking their President which doesn’t trigger any verbal violence, leave about physical. We have to seriously review our freedom levels if it’s only restricted to paper.
You should watch Power Star to know about Democracy and freedom of expression or celebrate their presence in the country.
2. Parallel Reality will be a futuristic Genre in Movies
When ‘Gandhi’ was made by Richard Attenborough, when The Social Network was made by David Fincher audience of those countries watched with curiosity for knowing the story or to entertain themselves but no one attacked the director nor abused it as character assassination. Here we seek new films, new Genres but behave as tremulous agitators giving hypocritic outcries and ready to break the law (We are not here to tolerate such barbarism by the way). Making a movie based on the life of a popular celebrity is legal and opens up creative juices of many aspiring writers. If majority audience (who want dances and fights to whistle in theatre) decides what intellectual minority should also watch, that’s the basic reason for the dead-repeated, mix-packed, value less formula based Dejavu movies we are rubbed on us from decades. Then don’t ask for freshness, if you ask for it, accept it when it comes. No double standards.
You should watch Power Star to enjoy a completely new genre of films and for a novel entertainment
3. Hypocritic statements of Slave-Minded people throwing out rhetorics
There’s always one thing in a criminal gang. it’s not the main leader that does sound but more noise and damage is done by his last sidekick. It holds good same for a popular public figure like a politician or a movie star. More than the actual person, his self-claimed fans will make more noise without any relevant stature. It’s only to build some mileage of faith among that leader or stars’ followers as they don’t have any individual identity otherwise. Why are they relevant now? The relevance is this: when someone is creating something out of the box, any person who depends on majority’s opinion feels a threat to his existence and tries all his ways to stop, demean, or attack it. In the process, he catalyzes the creative work and gives it additional publicity falling prey to the majority’s unstable stand. So one has to decide either to be on the creative side where one can learn something new to do great things in life or to be on the side of the boring majority which makes sure one lives a boring and stagnant life. That choice is there at every second of life.
You have to watch Power Star to laugh at the rhetorics of slave-mined people
4. Police and Law eventually stand to protect individual rights not the majority’s rights
If the opinion of Majority is to prevail, there would not have been civilization. Civilization or a system of judiciary is set up to protect the individual against the majority and not vice-versa. An impulsive reaction. to attract attention for a while, or in a moment of fury, someone gets down into violence, that comes back as it should. In the evolution of society, it becomes harder and harder to escape the course of law after breaking it. So using that protection, when an individual exercised his right and created something, it’s a celebration for every intellectual if not more for a sensible citizen.
You have to watch Power Star to celebrate the victory of an individual over the majority
5. Life and fear of living
If someone asks “What’s the need to do this?’ then the simple answer is ‘what’s the need to do anything?’. The people who ask the need are the ones who create lifelessness in society. Only when someone does what he/she wanted to do in reality (not in imagination or dreams), life becomes exciting and worth living. What’s the point of one succumbs to every whimsical objection of any anonymous hooligan.
You have to watch power Star to rekindle your passion to live, to remind yourself that you should do the things you feel passionate about, instead of always doing the things that are just required for survival.
6. Blackmailing Media and Nepotistic Film industry
If there’s a small allegation on someone, the TV media puts direct programs on the scene with titles confirming the accusation like ‘MP X behind 200 Crore scam’, ‘Womanizer school Principal, beaten by locals’, ‘Thief in an apartment taught a lesson by residents’ etc and the list is infinite (Without any proof or verdict delivered by the court, sometimes even before FIR is filed)
Such media which enjoys overboard freedom of reporting expression comes in U-turn condemning someone else’s freedom and makes programs against it. Are they saying ‘We can do it but not you?’. If that’s the case, we have seen the downfall of many such monopolies and they are no aliens to escape the effects of their actions. And it’s quite funny and ironical that such media is talking about character assassination while that’s the thing they do from morning to evening on their channels. Opportunism at its peak.
And what’s the film industry? How many aspiring directors remained as assistant directors? How many of them vanished after delivering one or two hits? How many talented actors were crushed down because they were rising beyond a level and becoming a threat to established film families? All such things are not debated and when someone is working continuously and giving work to many people they complain of unnecessary things.
You should watch Power Star if you want to endorse a rebellion that raises against blackmailing media and nepotistic film industry (that which crushes new talent if it rises)
7. Cartoons and Satires
If there’s a cartoon in a newspaper, a satire on a website, or a meme on social media will they go and take that down? That kind of tyranny is not allowed in this country. There are cartoons made even on the Prime Minister regularly, a film star is no God to be untouched or to be uncommented.
Those satires and comments are meant to tickle the funny bones and are to be taken jovially. You should watch Power Star if you are a fan of satires, stand-ups, and memes
8. Capitalism and Free market
In a Capitalist market, a man is free to explore his potential and make returns on his ideas and execution. It’s no one else’s part to interfere or obstruct his/her work. If a movie is not made by abiding the law, one can register a case in a Police station and system will proceed in its due course. This shouting and crying are all outdated and a means to get B-graded attention.
If a satire is disliked, the other parties can counter with another satire or meme and that adds to the entertainment. That’s what our political parties do even in Assemblies and Parliament. Leaving that aside, if goons get on to roads, the system will have to protect the Producers and Capitalists in serious ways.
We should watch Power Star for witnessing a high-end Capitalist who constantly produces and makes returns.
One last point
To add one last point, some people argued some one’s wife role is shown unnecessarily in this movie. In the Gandhi movie, Kasturba Gandhi’s role is shown full length. Why not here? People are just habituated to comment on moral standards and stop someone’s work showing some reason or other. A capitalist market won’t work like that. They will know it sooner or later.

if u r talking abt Gandhi or the social , these movies are not at all comparable with movie like power star by rgv…
reason: 1.there is no mockery by adding some stupid songs.
2. these movies were well scripted
3. especiallythese movies were not made for controversy.
these r some reasons to ignore a movie like Power Star .
